Minimalistic without being cold, contemporary style is defined by clean lines, open spaces, and simple color palettes. Beauty is in simplicity and every piece counts for something.

Coastal style meanwhile, infuses the serene feeling of being near the shore into an inviting home environment. Accents can be of driftwood, rattan, and seagrass. Color palettes generally consist of bright airy shades of blue with white, tans, beiges, and greys.

1. Keep furniture classic yet refined. Look for pieces with clean, modern lines, but that still have a relaxed look and feel. You don’t want a space that feels too stark.

2. Keep things light and airy. Keep walls and furniture light, and also add in various washed wood and seagrass elements in furniture and accents.

3. Just Add Blue. All shades of blue are welcome in a coastal-inspired home. Try not to be too on the nose with cheesy decor, and instead seek out unique art that fits your specific geographical area.
